Jennifer Garner reached her breaking point with Ben Affleck and pulled the plug on their 10 year marriage, but not all the recent rumors about him are true.
The long rumored Ben Affleck-Jennifer Garner divorce was announced yesterday, marking the end for one of Hollywood's most beloved couples.
All signs had been pointing to divorce for awhile, but they had kept things pretty well under wraps, so the official statement was still jarring.
What went so wrong for the parents of three? Sources close to Garner say Ben's drinking and gambling habits escalated over the last few years to the point "she couldn't take it anymore."
Ben's friends and associates won't deny he likes to drink and loves to gamble, but they say "partying" had nothing to do with their problems.
Affleck has been linked to Emily Ratajkowski, Blake Lively and others, but the actor's camp is adamant that he did not go out and womanize.
Rather, Jen just complained about Ben Affleck's drinking problem and felt that he gambled too much, to the point where she could not take it anymore.
According to Affleck sources, it just boils down to "people who want to live their lives differently."
The couple reportedly have been living apart for the last 10 months, so there was no recent "breaking point" or scandal that did them in.
As for the rumored 10-year mark in their marriage, which entitles a partner to more spousal support, that had nothing to do with the timing.
Ben and Jen have no prenup, but are likely to part ways amicably in the money department ... because he's not much richer than her.Their business managers are busy figuring out how to divide what, but Garner apparently made "massive amount of money" off of Alias.
For all of Ben's film successes, Jen made her own box office bank with movies like 13 Going on 30 and Elektra, so it's a non-issue. Bottom line: The 10-year marriage milestone would entitle her to more support, but she's likely to waive that anyway since she's rich.
